HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT: THE HAFTAROT OF YOMIM NORAIM

Please join us at Seudah Shlishit on the last three Shabbatot of the year, as we prepare for the Yomim Noraim by examining the incredible Haftarot of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Rabbi Miodownik and Rabbi Whittenburg will take us through these Haftarot with an in-depth analysis and lessons for our teshuvah process:

Shabbat, September 6: The Haftarah of Rosh Hashanah 1 (Shmuel Aleph 1 and 2)

Shabbat, September 13: The Haftarah of Rosh Hashanah 2 (Yirmiyahu 31)

Shabbat, September 20: The Haftarah of Yom Kippur (Yeshayahu 57)

CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART

On Shabbat, September 6 at 6:15 p.m., we are proud to present a pre-Rosh Hashanah shiur by Rabbi Dr. Zvi Leshem about "Circumcision of the Heart and the Teshuva Process."

Rabbi Leshem was ordained by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and received his PhD from Bar-Ilan University in Jewish Philosophy, specializing in 20th Century Hasidic thought and mystical techniques. After decades in Torah education and the Rabbinate, he headed the Gershom Scholem Collection for Kabbalah and Hasidism at the National Library of Israel. He is the author of Redemptions: Contemporary Chassidic Essays on the Parsha and the Festivals and numerous articles. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife Julie.

Sefarim & Book Marketplace

Take the opportunity before Yom Tov to clean out your old books and discover new ones. We invite you to drop off books (10 book maximum donation limit per person) on September 3 between 7:00-8:30 p.m. The Sefarim & Book Marketplace will be held on Motzei Shabbat, September 6 from 9:00-11:30 p.m. and on Sunday morning, September 7 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Downstairs Social Hall. Entrance fee: $5 per person or donation of 10 books. Cost: adult books: $2 each; children’s books: $1 each; Sefarim: $4 each.
